Memorial Dav Observance
In glorius sunshine more than 150 people turned out Monday morning to commemorate tyhose killed in service to the nation during the 4th Annual Montross Tea party Memorial Day Observance at the Montross Courthouse Green.
The ceremony, led by MTP President Rodger Meredith, commenced with the Presentation of the Colors by the King George JNROTC and an Invocation by Chaplain Michael Ramming (Retired Navy) of Good Shepherd Lutheran Church in Callao followed by the Pledge of Allegiance.
Armed Services Members who paid tribute to our Flag and Fallen Heroes were:

"A Poem Worth Reading" read by Pat Weakland of MTP
"Flanders Field" read by Washington and Lee High School Drama Coach Jasmine Payne
Excerpts from the play "War Letters" read by two Washington and Lee High School Students
Other events included:
Laying of the Wreath at the Monument of Confederate Soldiers by Gay Packett and Kathy Stout of United Daughters of the Confederacy, Ft. Lowry Chapter 2695.
Recognition of Fallen Family Members and Friends ready by Ray Dabney of MTP
The Reverend Dr. W. R. Gardiner ACV of Holy Redeemer Anglican Parish of Montross gave the Benediction.
The Observance concluded with Taps played by Damon Miner.
Following the ceremony, the crowd enjoyed hot dogs provided by Chris and Ann from Cole's Point Tavern, served by Top Dog Chef Pete Craig.with beverages provided by MTP.
